WHO WE ARE
EMERGE125 is a Black female-led dance company that expands the reach and impact of dance through creation, performance, and education. Through a body of expressive, athletic modern dance work, EMERGE125 explores social dynamics and personal identity, illuminates and challenges systemic inequities, and inspires reflection and connection. We believe that dance can serve as a uniting force across differences in age, race, class, and more.
EMERGE125 has been led by celebrated choreographer Tiffany Rea-Fisher since 2016. Based in Harlem, EMERGE125 has a strong education program, tours nationwide, and shares virtual content globally.
By performing in multidisciplinary or non-arts spaces, as well as engaging in cross-disciplinary collaborations, we reach beyond traditional dance audiences—we attract audiences who like to be surprised, challenged, and in dialogue with art of all kinds. Our youth dance education programs—serving K-12 students as well as pre- and early-career professionals—cultivate these same values in the artists and audiences of the future.
“One of the strengths in the company is that we are very nimble and so we’re always kind of emergent, even though we aren’t new. And 125 is just to hold down the Harlem roots. I love, love, love that we are a Harlem based company. That became the name, so it’s been a long, interesting journey, but I think we landed exactly where we needed to.”

GET TO KNOW EMERGE125’S ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Tiffany Rea-Fisher
“I consider my signature to be a combination of empathy, joy, and athleticism; not always in that order. An idea that I’ve always held as true is that people primarily go to the theater to escape, so I ask myself if I wanted to escape, what would I want to see? Empathy, joy, and athleticism.”
BOOK EMERGE125:
EMERGE125 has a tour ready program available for your 2026-27 season. E125 prides itself on being able to adjust to unique spaces and can tailor our choreography to outdoor and unconventional stages. Our programs can (and have!) fill a studio or a pavilion.
E125's repertory is generally presented with minimal sets and props, with touring options ranging from solos, duets, half and full company productions.

Hear what others are saying about EMERGE125…
“Tiffany and her team help you to understand that there’s more than just becoming a principal dancer––there’s so many different types of things you can do with dance. [They teach you that] you need to be healthy in your mind, not just your body but in your mind too.”
“The company changed my life and allowed me to reach goals and accomplish dreams that I have always wanted for myself.”
“The mission of E125 is to touch people genuinely through art...Art is a tool for you to become your best self. If that is organizing, if that is treating other people with kindness, if that is making your own work. We all grow in different places, but the requirement for you to be your best self is part of––and around––the company. It’s not forced, but it’s required.”
“Using the arts to address pressing social issues, to cross racial lines. Disruption through inclusion. Developing artists as people in community. It’s not just dancers as an instrument of the choreographer’s vision––there is a dynamic interplay between the art she creates through the company and the opportunities for each of these dancers to become artists in their own right.”
