The Stars of Tomorrow Project

The Stars of Tomorrow Project and EMERGE125 have been successfully collaborating for 8 years to bring free classes in modern dance, contemporary, hip hop, and ballet to NYC students ranging from ages 14-25 using the tools of the arts for youth development. The Stars of Tomorrow Project is a free youth development organization, that gives the youth of New York City the opportunity to discover the world, and the tools to navigate it.

One of our recent iterations of the programs, conducted amidst COVID-19, spanned five citywide sites to reach 173 students in-person and nearly 5,000 dancers via our online format – an incredible increase in participation. In addition, all children who participate in our community-level classes can see E125 performances free of cost. We have since developed new positions within the company – Community Ambassadors – dedicated to keeping up with the increased participation and interest in this partnership.

EMERGE125 recognizes that arts education opens the door for exploration and new opportunities. By offering diverse dance education programs, it provides us a unique and creative way to better serve our communities. E125 continues our partnership with The Stars of Tomorrow Project, Inc. under the direction of Brian D. Hills and Bijoux Lukelo. In 2022/2023 E125 company instructors, Kat Files, Alisa Gregory, Dennzyl Green, Tiffany Terry, and Madelyn LaLonde taught in total 12 classes in modern, jazz, and contemporary techniques throughout the year. Each class had an average of 10 students to attend. Our instructors also choreographed 2 dance pieces for the Stars of Tomorrow students to perform at different events. We understand that dance education is an active journey that leads to self-discovery, and we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of our Stars of Tomorrow student’s journey! Our E125 classes begin this Fall, October through December, 2023.

Our mission is to use dance to develop character, instill confidence, and prove that a career in the arts is possible!
