In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tiffany Rea-Fisher was quickly able to pivot into action and stay at the forefront of the dance community by providing virtual offerings. These included free classes on Instagram, continuing our Lake Placid School of Dance classes virtually, and hosting Movie Night and Trivia events in order to keep the connection between our supporters strong and exciting. In the dedication to our mission to serve the community, Tiffany Rea-Fisher continued to amp up the company’s online presence by participating and moderating in a series of Town Halls and interviews in both the dance and political fields that were accessible to all audiences!

The Making of a Moment - Documentary

Coming soon! Get an in-depth look at what a residency with Artistic Director Tiffany Rea-Fisher looks like. There is no one more equipped to tell the story of making dance art than dance artists. Entering into this two-week residency experience, we knew creative magic would be happening. This coupled with the fact that a moment like this (a national lockdown) will never happen again in our lifetimes, we felt it important that the story of dance artists during the Covid-19 pandemic be documented. This all in an effort to provide widespread knowledge of what exactly it is dance performers, choreographers and directors do, and why it is so important.

Rights of Renaissance - Dance Film

Tiffany was commissioned by Harlem Stage to bring to life her vision for a new work celebrating three Black, Queer, Female playwrights, Alice Dunbar-Nelson, Mary Powell Burrill and Angelina Weld Grimke’. All three women were colleagues and early practitioners of a queer black feminist theater aesthetic at the turn of the 20th century. Rights of Renaissance examines our collective expectations of artists of determinable backgrounds and how our personal interpretations of their racial, sexual, cultural, and national heritage affect our openness to accept, consume, and reward their artistic expressions. The work also addresses the lack of Non-European history taught in schools. Touching upon issues of acceptance, race, gender, and sexuality. The film premiered virtually through Harlem Stage’s E-Moves Part 2 June 25-27, 2021

Geography of Grace - Dance Film

EMERGE125 presents a new dance film, Geography of Grace. Audiences will be transported to the Adirondack Mountains and the land of the John Brown Farm State Historic Site located in Lake Placid, New York. In this film, the dancers come alive and pay homage to the American abolitionist, John Brown. Geography of Grace premiered at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on May 9th, 2023 (John Brown Day). After three long years in the making it was a joy to share this film with our Lake Placid and Adirondack community for the first time!!
