Her work has been seen regionally with Birmingham Children’s Theatre, Classical Theatre of Harlem, Trisha Brown, Papermill Playhouse, National Black Theater, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Black Hills Playhouse, American Players Theatre, Mystic Aquarium, Carnegie Hall, The Apollo, Elisa Monte, EMERGE125, The National Gallery, The New School, Columbia University, Joe's Pub and Pittsburgh Public Theatre. Rachel is a “ARTivist” who hopes her art and teaching make an impact. “My passion is for work in theater, dance, and performance that is socially and/or politically engaging. It is important that theater fuels knowledge and promotes change and gives meaning to the world around us, whether it asks a question that challenges given systems, lifts up silenced voices, or creates beauty and laughter that allows a person to continue being an active member in her world and community. I am doing this art while working with new playwrights, directors, and designers at Columbia University and at EMERGE125 as their resident designer. I strongly believe in participating in art that reaches all socio and economic levels and looks to bridge the gaps to accessible art. I crave learning and learn so much from teaching and meeting other artists.” When she is not working on performance, she teaches fiber arts to aspiring artists age 4-100. She has taught private clients, parties, and afterschool classes at Hunter College elementary, and The Dalton School. Outside of work she enjoys exploring new places and experiences with her son and husband, getting inked, playing with her mini golden doodle and doing embroidery and weaving projects.”
