poly string theory

Rea-Fisher fell in love with the music of the Kaiser Quartett and felt impassioned to try to make a movement piece that was as frenetic and visceral as the music. Inspired by her dancers' dedication, motivation, determination, and strength, this study in applied pressure has become a favorite piece of repertoire within the company.

“Poly String Theory” is set to the music of Kaiser Quartett. They’re a new-ish quartet and a German quartet and I sat with the music for a while but then I couldn’t sit with it anymore, like I had to jump out of the seat and create something to it. And the dancers loved it and I loved it and so it became iterative that we just had to keep creating and I think I’m at a stopping point, I’m very happy with where it was. But it was one of those things that I wasn’t trying to like, ugh I still have this much music left, what can I do? It’s like, I was just running with the music alongside me which was really beautiful.
